Updates
- Planning for the year ahead: Update on GE's four unit reduction's effort.
- There is a CAFES vacancy on the GE Governance Board.
- This will be Josh Machamer's last year as GE Chair due to department chair commitment. Ongoing discussions as to replacement.
- Josh's memo on reduction of four GE units of 9/16 was delivered to the Senate Executive Committee. No need for Senate resolution.
Business
ARCE
- ARCE has sent the GE Governance Board a proposal for an exemption from the upper-division Arts and Humanities C4 requirement. This is out of complicance with EO 1065.
CENG
- We should continue to discuss possible alternative for the future.
- CENG excited about possibilities: increased trust in GE Governance Board.
Program Review
- GE will undergo self-study this year. The committee will work on specific tasks.
- Program Review is a two year process. Our document is to be prepared this year and outside reviewers will come to campus next year.
- This is the opportunity to think about our strengths and weaknesses as a program
