    , 1.2 and 1.3
These courses were appealed at the Academic Senate meeting on 2/10/15.
GE Chair, Brenda Helmbrecht and Michael Lucas (Arch) presented information.
A decision on the appeal will be made by Curriculum Appeals Committee.
  2. Discussion of new Executive Order E011 which replaces EO 1065.
    (CSU GE Requirements)
  3. GE Consensus  to approve three previously cross-listed courses in GE.
     ES/NR 308, ARCH/ES 326 and ES/NR 360

Background from Office of the Registrar - Asked for GEGB  Approval
These courses were approved to double-count for GE Studies according to the ge-policies.  However, the catalog course descriptions for ES 308, ES 326, and ES 360 include this statement: “Fulfills GE area except for Comparative Ethnic Studies majors." This statement was introduced to the course descriptions starting in the 2009-11 catalog.

Denise Isom, Chair Ethnic Studies and Katie Tool, GE Program Administrative Support Coordinator  have investigated this, and have determined that Comparative Ethnic Studies Majors should be able to double-count these cross-listed courses for major and for GE. They have indicated that the change should be made retroactive for the 2013-15 catalog, 2011-13 catalog, and 2009-11 catalog.
  4. GE consensus - approve blanket substitution for STAT 312/STAT 542 to count for GE B6.

Background from Pamela Bleisch, Curriculum Coordinator asked for GEGB  approval

The College of Engineering would like approval for STAT 542 to meet the GE B6 requirement, as well as the major support requirement.  This substitution benefits students in Blended BS-MS programs in the College of Engineering, who may use STAT 542 in the Formal Study Plan for their MS, in addition to using it to meet a major support requirement for their BS.

STAT 312 and STAT 542 are combined classes, taught in the same room at the same time. Andrew Schaffner, Chair of Statistics, assures us that these really are the same course.
